Shining reveal album title and release date

SHINING are now announcing the title and release date of their forthcoming full-length. 'IX - Everyone, Everything, Everywhere, Ends' will hit the streets on the 20th of April via Season of Mist. Pre-sale with start on February 3rd.

Mastermind Niklas Kvarforth comments: "SHINING, the ninth, has been given the name of 'IX - Everyone, Everything, Everywhere, Ends'. For once I am extremely pleased with how this album turned out. I believe that the fevered presence of filth and uncompromising darkness is more prominent than ever before. Not only will our more recent fan-base 'enjoy' the oppression contained therein, but I am also certain that those who stopped listening to SHINING after our fifth album will find the new one plague-ridden with what some might have felt was lacking on the more recent efforts… that atmosphere of old."

SHINING will also launch a new website today: www.shiningasylum.com

On previous news, Season of Mist proudly welcomed extreme metal lunatics SHINING to their roster. SHINING is made of mastermind Niklas Kvarforth (vocals, concept, guitars) and his “toolbox”: Rainer Tuomikanto (drums), Christian Larsson (bass), Euge Valovirta (guitar), and Peter Huss (guitar).

Frontman Kvarforth issued the following statement about the signing: “After a long period of negotiations and discussions that lasted almost eight years, I have now chosen to grant Season of Mist the privilege of releasing the next SHINING album. We have also once again decided to work with Andy La Roque and record at his Sonic Train facilities. The ceremony is set to begin in September, and thus my ninth child can be expected in early 2015.”

The pioneer of what is today referred to as “suicidal black metal”, SHINING has been spreading chaos and mayhem throughout the planet since 1996. With eight highly acclaimed albums behind them, and 70+ members fired between the years 2002 and 2011, SHINING has finally found a line-up that has lasted longer than two years. Now the band is fully prepared to shed some genuine darkness into an otherwise shallow scene that relies mostly on overused theatrics and the camouflage offered by alter egos.

“It has cost us a lot doing what we do, but it has all been worth it. We are now a fantastic constellation that is able to put on the kind of show that I’ve been striving for since the very day I gave birth to this sick child of mine nearly two decades back”, says Kvarforth.

Shadowed by controversy and “scandals”, SHINING appears, on the surface at least, to have had a rather tough time over the last couple of years, but the band shrugs it all off with nonchalant ease as largely rumour mongering and single eye-witness reports that have very little basis in fact. Not only is a SHINING show executed with almost excessive perfection, but it is also a must for everyone who longs for something darker and more sinister than that which is provided by run-of-the-mill Black Metal bands. It’s not a coincidence SHINING has been acclaimed as the Guns N’ Roses of the extreme metal community!

ENTER SHIKARI ENTER THE MIDWEEKS AT #3 WITH 'THE MINDSWEEP'

'The Mindsweep', the fourth album by Enter Shikari has entered the UK Album Charts midweeks at #3.

Hot on the heels of massive new releases from Mark Ronson and Fall Out Boy, this is the fourth album of Enter Shikari’s to enter the top 5 on release and another triumph in the continuing mission to slip pigeonhole-avoiding, socially-conscious music into the mainstream (chances are 'The Mindsweep' is the only release in the top 40 with a track specifically about the privatisation of the NHS under the current unelected Tory government. Though, admittedly, I haven’t heard the Sam Smith album all the way through, so you never know, eh?).

The band will be embarking on a brace of Instore Signings this week :

21st January

12pm – HMV Southampton 5:00pm – HMV Brighton Churchill

22nd January

12pm – HMV Birmingham Bullring 5:30pm – HMV Manchester

23rd January

5:30pm – Rise Records, Bristol

And their Europe / UK tour commences in Paris on 2nd February and ends with two Sold Out shows at London’s 3000-capacity Camden Roundhouse at the end of the month.

Rave The Reqviem Premiere Music Video For "Aeon" At Bloody-Digusting

Swedish electronic metal act Rave The Reqviem are breaking into the American scene with the premiere of their graphic and gripping new music video, "Aeon." The dark, industrial-rooted track with religious and horror-filled imagery debuted at Bloody-Disgusting yesterday. The song comes off the band's latest record, "Rave The Reqviem," which was released internationally via Japanese-based label Digital World Audio last April.

Rave The Reqviem mastermind Filip Lönnqvist, who fronts the band alongside his mother Carola, said this about the new video:

"Since I'd consider myself being a pretentious and ambitious perfectionist, I'm stunned by the fact that these guys managed to deliver a music video which made me 100% satisfied. It's the perfect visual propaganda for our grotesque little sect."

"The video makes heavy use of religious imagery, juxtaposing the softness of angelic hymns, courtesy of vocalist/songwriter Filip Lönnqvist’s mother, with the darkness and anger of metal." — Jonathan Barkan, Bloody-Disgusting.

About Rave The Reqviem: Rave The Reqviem was founded by Filip Lönnqvist during late fall 2011. The purpose of the project was to combine rock and metal with modern electronic music, including everything from electro-industrial to drum 'n' bass and dubstep. Filip's mother, Carola, joined forces with her son — adding her ethereal soprano voice to the music. Thus, creating a polarized and bittersweet sound where mechanical darkness meets beauty and sentiment was complete.

After two self-released demos in 2013, RTR immediately gained attention in the international underground scene, signing a a record deal with DWA and releasing their self-titled debut album on April 11, 2014.
