LESS THAN JAKE ANNOUNCE ‘LIVE FROM ASTORIA’ LIVE ALBUM + GROEZROCK AND 4 DATES IN THE UK ANNOUNCED

Gainesville, Florida natives LESS THAN JAKE announce the release of the new live album ‘Live From Astoria’, set for an April 29th release via Rude Records and Saint November Records (for the UK vinyl).

The collection of Less Than Jake classics was recorded exactly 15 years ago, on the third night of a three-day run at the legendary London venue in April 2001.

Comments saxophonist Peter “JR” Wasilewski: “The London Astoria was always a special place for us. For a certain time it almost felt like a home-coming every time we played there. For us to be able to play multiple nights there on several occasions needed to be documented somehow. We hope our fans enjoy it as much as we did making it!”

Adds drummer Vinnie Fiorello: "..The Astoria always felt electric when we played there and it translates on this live recording.. "

The ‘Live From Astoria’ release will coincide with LESS THAN JAKE’s GROEZROCK appearance, recently announced together with 4 shows in the UK and one in France.

ABOUT LESS THAN JAKE

Twenty four years into its pioneering journey, Gainesville, Fla., natives Less Than Jake – comprised of lyricist/drummer Vinnie Fiorello, vocalist/guitarist Chris DeMakes, vocalist/bassist Roger Manganelli, saxophonist Peter "JR" Wasilewski, and trombonist Buddy Schaub – have had their fair share of moments. Throughout a career that has run the gamut from self-releases and small indie imprints to large independent labels and major music conglomerates, LESS THAN JAKE has always been more than the sum of its parts. Now more than ever, though, they espouse their stature as a DIY collective that works together—or at least in tandem with a few trusted allies—on every element of their creative output. Drummer Vinnie Fiorello recalls, “We started out very internal, and nowadays we handle a lot internally again.

For a band obsessed with interacting with its fans, both online and after shows; for a band that is so concerned with making sure the fan gets the perfect experience, with well-known hijinks in every live performance; for a band with seemingly unlimited creativity in the form of physical products, from custom-made cereal boxes to unique vinyl packaging; and for a band that is so passionate when writing new music, 24 years begins to seem like an even longer amount of time. A lot of moments add up over two decades – teenagers grow into men over two decades – dare we say, things change?

Ever-adapting to the constant change in an unsure music industry, Less Than Jake is still making cannonball-sized splashes in the deep end while many of its peers timidly eye shallow waters.

“We're constantly pushing ourselves to come up with new ways to present the band,” says Schaub, “whether it be within the writing of our songs, ideas for keeping our live shows fresh, coming up with crazy new merch ideas, or just coming up with the best joke in the van. Keeping your band new and innovative is the key to lasting around for more than a minute in the minds of fans. If this counts as a job, sign me up for another 20 years!”

Echoing Mark Twain, Vinnie Fiorello points out that the rumors regarding their genre’s demise are greatly exaggerated: “Punk has been declared dead every year for 30+ years and it’s still going stronger than ever. People like to declare things dead just because it’s dead to them, but if bands are passionate about what they’re doing, they’ll attract fans who are passionate.”

As fits a band born long enough ago to now be of legal drinking age, Less Than Jake pulls in a multi-generational audience, which Vinnie notes is often a family affair. “Our crowd now is 16 to 40, and I’ve met kids as young as eight or nine. Dads bring their sons and it’s a weird rite of passage; moms bring kids in saying, ‘We’ve watched you guys for 15 years.’ But will the band stick around long enough to draw in a third generation of fans? “I don’t know man. I think our guys on that would be NOFX and Bad Religion. When you see Fat Mike or Bad Religion hang it up, maybe: but like them, we’re gonna ride that out.”

We’re glad to be along for the ride!

AFI's DAVEY HAVOK and JADE PUGET Return With BLAQK AUDIO

DUO ANNOUNCE APRIL 15TH RELEASE FOR NEW ALBUM 'MATERIAL'

DAVEY HAVOK and JADE PUGET have announced an April 15th release for 'MATERIAL' via Blaqknoise/Kobalt, the new album from the duo’s electronic alter ego, BLAQK AUDIO.

They’re giving fans a preview of the record with lead track 'Anointed', which can be streamed HERE. Fans can get the track as an instant download by clicking HERE to pre-order 'Material' on iTunes.

Produced and recorded by Puget, 'Material' is Blaqk Audio’s third release following 2012’s Bright Black Heaven and 2007’s Cexcells. “I’m so very excited to offer Material to the world” says Havok. “My anticipation for each BA release heightens as we grow. For me, lyrically, Material is darker than our records of the past.”

Though best known for their work with multi-platinum rock band AFI, Havok and Puget’s shared love of electronic music runs deep. Havok, who counts Devo’s Freedom of Choice and Duran Duran’s self-titled debut among the first albums he owned, saw his tastes evolve over the years from the synth pop of Erasure and Pet Shop Boys to Depeche Mode and ultimately to the heavier, darker Skinny Puppy, Ministry, Front 242 and Lords of Acid. Later, Havok immersed himself in the “futurepop” genre, which combined dark dance-y electronica with melodic vocals. From roughly 1999 to 2003, his contemporary musical diet consisted almost exclusively of artists falling under the industrial/ebm/futurepop/bigbeat/trance umbrella.

“Considering this is Blaqk Audio’s third record over the course of its 15-year existence, it’s always an exciting and rare opportunity to release a new batch of songs” says Puget. “Each new release finds us in a very different place, creatively, than the last” adds Puget. “Influences are different, musical interests have slightly or vastly shifted. As a writer, I’ve moved fully onto [software music sequencer] Ableton Live since the last album, which changes my workflow and writing style.”

Puget shared his bandmate’s long-standing love of electronic music, beginning with a passion for Daft Punk, Depeche Mode, Ministry, Squarepusher, Nitzer Ebb, and Front 242, spending a great deal of time programming electronic music, which in turn led to a plan to start an entirely electronic side project: no organic instruments, just synths, keyboards, drum machines, and software.

“Being huge music fans and fundamentally driven by music in a creative sense, BA is a wonderful outlet for our long-standing love of electronic music” says Havok. “Were it not for BA, I’d still be writing this type of music, even if it never saw the light of day.”

About first track 'Anointed' Havok says, 'Anointed’ highlights themes of misplaced hopes of salvation, redemption and rebirth that carry through the record. Material is the blank canvas, the fundamental substance, the base of what we create.”

REACH - 'Tell Me' Acoutic Music Video And Single Released

Swedish melodic hard rockers REACH have released a acoustic music video of the song "Tell Me", it's the title from their new single "Tell Me" and includes their cover version of the song "Wake Me Up" (Avicii), due out on February 17 via Sun Hill Production.

REACH have been playing over 30 shows last year, supporting Gus G, Eclipse on their European tour, visting UK. This release is the acoustic version for the track "Tell Me" and they included the 'Avicii' song "Wake Me" up for this release on all digital platforms, that its previously only been released as youtube video, getting close to over 2 million views.

Track list:

1. Tell Me (Acoustic Version) 2. Wake Me Up (Avicii)

REACH are:

Alex Waghorn - Vocals Ludvig Turner - Guitars David Jones - Bass Marcus Johansson - Drums

REACH was put together in 2012 by drummer Marcus Johansson and guitarist Ludvig Turner. Together they started looking for band members to complete the group, and found the remaining band members in bass player David Jones and vocalist Alex Waghorn. Among the first thing REACH did to reveal this new rock band was to arrange a hard rock cover of Avicii's super hit 'Wake me up', in August 2013. A huge success and about one year later the video has over 1.000.000 views AND still counting.

REACH's music can be described as classic rock with strong melodies and hooks, complemented by their youth energy. You can hear influences from Whitesnake, Scorpions, Europe and Gary Moore in the songs. Ludvig also put the melodic rock on the map in Swedish television in 2014 by making his own interpretations of major hits and being among the final four in the Swedish Idol contest.

The band released early 2014 a single 'Black Lady' to show their song writing abilities and proved not being just a cover band. In December 2014 having secured a deal with Sun Hill Production they released a first single 'You Called My Name' from their album 'Reach Out To Rock', which was released on March 4, 2015 via Sun Hill Production/Cargo Records.

THE FRANKLYS new single “Comedown” March 25th & 18 date UK Tour

On March 25th The Franklys release their new single ‘Comedown’ on CD and 7” through Electric Wood Records.

Comedown is a cautionary tale from the edge with a message of empowerment. Evoking classic Nuggets with an electrifying swagger and metallic crunch, Comedown sees The Franklys go for a “bigger and more instant sound”.

Listen now to the visceral ‘Comedown’:

The Franklys embark on their most extensive and ambitious tour since they formed and promise each show will be ‘loud, raw, energetic, sweaty, and an exciting spectacle!” The Franklys first tour of 2016 starts in Brighton on February 29th and finishes 18 shows later with 2 shows in one day, first the Freehold Festival in Liverpool followed by The Firebug in Leicester on April 8th.

The Franklys, are an all girl rock 'n' roll band based in London. 50% Swedish, 25% British, 25% American, 100% rock’n’roll.

The Franklys have heard all those bullshit lines that you get when you’re a female rock band. “Oh, you can really play!” or worse, “You play pretty well for girls!” Zoë says simply "We just focus on making great music and having a laugh. For all of us, this is the band we always wanted to be in”.

This four piece force of nature features a rhythm section as solid and driving as an army tank, which consists of all-American drummer Nicole Pinto and home grown talent Zoe Biggs on bass. Fronting up the quartet like a pair of firecrackers are Swedish pair Jen Ahlkvist (lead vocals and rhythm guitar) with her bitter sweet and ever so edgy vocals, and Fanny Broberg (lead guitar), contributing double-barrelled screaming guitars and melodic guitar hooks, lending a rich variety to the styles and sounds that cascade off the stage.

The Franklys aim to make their first album later this year. For now, it’s all about getting out on stage and kicking ass. “Our show is energetic, frenetic and sweaty.” Jennifer says. “Prepare to be blown away”.

The Franklys love ’50s rock’n’roll, ’60s psych, ’70s punk, ’80s new wave and you will love The Franklys, so catch them at a show near you.
