One Man Boycott Finish ‘Counting The Seconds’:South West Pop Rockers Debut Album Out Now

The 25th March 2016 marks the release of pop rock quartet One Man Boycott’s debut album, ‘Counting The Seconds’, via Super Sick Records. Originally the brainchild of vocalist Joe Brewer’s solo project, according to the man himself, the band marks a fresh start: “It was, and still is, me trying to escape from the real world around me, my ‘boycott’ of ‘normal’ expectations I guess”. Completed by guitarist Lewis Chappell, drummer Frank Rawle and bassist Tom Hitchins, One Man Boycott pen the kind of energetic, instantly infectious pop rock nuggets that instantly instil a hankering for long sun-soaked days with good friends. Positively soaked in youthful exuberance, Counting The Seconds evokes pop rock’s halcyon days, where the stables of Drive Thru Records and Fuelled By Ramen saw gem after gem race out the gate with pop hearts unashamedly on sleeves, swinging songwriting savvy like a deadly weapon.

With crisp production from Romesh Dodangoda (Kids In Glass Houses, Funeral For A Friend, Decade), Counting The Seconds is as accomplished as debut albums get, One Man Boycott confidently presiding over their arsenal of slick, effortless vocals (Brewer commands an impressive 4 octave range), punchy guitars and driving drums. “For us, Romesh’s production stands clear of other producers in this country and in our genre as a whole,” opines Brewer; “His experience in rock, also the more pop side of that sound and honestly, a gut feeling that this was the guy to work with on this release. We werent’s wrong! To be able to have this album coming out at such a high quality is a big step up for all of us, we are all very proud of it.”

“Over the course of this album my lyrics actually touched on a surprisingly wide range of topics,” say Brewer, the frontman citing such inspirations as Addiction, Frustration, Love, Hope, Death, Cancer, Loss, Egos, Kidnap, Murder, Relationships, Friendship and, erm, Bristol. He concludes, “The name Counting The Seconds is part of a lyric in the last track on the album, As You Wish: “and I’m counting the seconds, ‘til you believe me”. It refers to the anticipation we’ve all felt in the run up to sharing this album with everyone, we can’t wait.” Luckily, their wait is over.

One Man Boycott’s ‘Counting The Seconds’ Tracklisting: 1. Sunshine Pizza Friends | 2. If Only You’d Stay | 3. Fingers Crossed | 4. Monument To A Normal Guy | 5. Liar | 6. Short Like Summer | 7. Sick Of It All | 8. Stockholm Swing | 9. If I Survive | 10. As You Wish

One Man Boycott Live Dates: 25/03 GLT, Barnstaple - Hometown Album release show/after party | 1st April: Barfly, Camden | 30th April: The Cove Boutique, Barnstaple (acoustic)

GYPSY CHIEF GOLIATH: Canadian Stoner Metallers Premiere "Black Samurai" From Citizens Of Nowhere Album

Ontario-based stoner metal marauders, GYPSY CHIEF GOLIATH, end the week with the unfurling of a new single from their impending third album, Citizens Of Nowhere, set for release this April via Pitch Black Records. The track storms into the public arena through a premiere of the album's fourth track "Black Samurai" exclusive to PureGrainAudio.

Get cut up by GYPSY CHIEF GOLIATH's "Black Samurai" at PureGrainAudio RIGHT HERE.

Proudly (and rightly so) declaring their affection for that good old warm sound, GYPSY CHIEF GOLIATH has gone completely analogue on this one, recording on reel to reel tape at Sharktank Studios in Windsor, Ontario. Citizens Of Nowhere is the follow-up to GYPSY CHIEF GOLIATH's New Machines Of The Night (Pitch Black Records, 2013) which received numerous praises worldwide, including the #4 spot in Revolver Magazine's online readers poll for album of the week as well as charting #15 on the CMJ Loud Charts. Clocking in at just under an hour, Citizens Of Nowhere is an album that truly "reels" the listener in right from the start and the band's unique style of bluesy stoner rock/metal, which includes three guitars and a harmonica, is set to captivate audiences once again. The album includes eleven tracks, with a cover of the Sabbath classic "Killing Yourself To Live" as a CD bonus.

Citizens Of Nowhere is scheduled for release on April 15th on CD and digital download.

AVATAR DEBUT OFFICIAL RADIO SINGLE "THE EAGLE HAS LANDED"

AVATAR have released the first official radio single off their forthcoming LP today exclusively via Revolvermag.com. "You've heard Owl's hunting hymn. Now it's time for Eagle's mission statement," says lead vocalist Johannes Eckerström. "Just as he crashes into the world of his adversary, we will come crashing into your lives, screaming at the top of our lungs."

"We're still very early in the story and without giving away too much, I can say that things are about to change rapidly."

"The riff is a towel, the melody is water and y'all are about to get boarded. Have fun!"

AVATAR will release their very first concept album titled Feathers & Flesh to be released on Friday, May 13, 2016 via Entertainment One (eOne) in North America and Canada and Another Century overseas. The new release will be the band's highly anticipated followup to Hail The Apocalypse released in 2014, which cracked the Billboard Top 200 for the first time in the band's career.

The aim is set higher, further and deeper than ever before for AVATAR. Not only is this concept album their most extensive work to date, showing the widest range of any of their albums, it also contains a story too extensive for any booklet, so they made a book. A fully illustrated 60 page, 109 verse poem hardcover book. The physical album pre order, book, and exclusive merchandise is available now.

AVATAR have released three instant gratification tracks thus far from Feathers & Flesh. "Regret," and "House of Eternal Hunt" were released simultaneously just last week. When fans pre order the album through iTunes, these tracks are available instantly. The band recently released their first song off the record in a very familiar way, a music video. "For The Swarm" can be seen exclusively on the band's website AVATARMETAL.COM. Directed by longtime collaborator and director Johan Carlén, the video pegs itself firmly into the upper echelon of stunning visual masterpieces the band has grown accustomed to producing.

With past works being buzzworthy videos like "Bloody Angel," "Hail The Apocalypse" and the 2015 Loudwire "Best Rock video of the year" video for "Vultures Fly," AVATAR continues to raise the bar for what bands are doing visually in the current state of hard rock and metal. "For The Swarm" is also available as an iTunes instant gratification track, meaning fans who pre order the album today will get the track as an instant download.

Feathers & Flesh was recorded in Germany, Finland and Sweden in December 2015 with producer extraordinaire Sylvia Massy (System of a Down, Tool, Red Hot Chili Peppers). “Avatar is an amazing band,” said Massy, adding, “The singer has the wild energy and charisma I love, and the players are relentless. The album we’re making is an epic. Each song powerfully stands on it’s own, but is only a piece of a larger story. This album is the project I’ve been dreaming about for years!”

The music is as always, rooted in the extreme, with plenty of melodic sensibility and a lust for experimentation. There is a love for intense double bass drumming, riffing and shredding of timeless dimensions alongside rough edges, slow grooves and epic storytelling for the ages. The idea is that as the band digs deeper, the fists will be held up higher. The end result is a modern metal album with all the ruthlessness and power one could ask for handled with a loving songwriter’s hand, inspired by The Beatles and Queen.

AVATAR have developed quite the reputation for touring the US harder than even some of their American counterparts. Most notably, the band has grown well known for their epic performances in the US festival market. After their memorable performance at Rock on the Range 2014, a first for the band, it shows no signs of stopping. AVATAR will return to Rock on the Range, Welcome to Rockville, Carolina Rebellion, Rocklahoma and River City Rockfest in 2016. They will also be performing at Download UK and Download Paris this summer.
