Californian Indie rockers, From Indian Lakes have just revealed a new, haunting video from their latest album, entitled, 'Awful Things'.
FROM INDIAN LAKES released their incredible new album 'Absent Sounds' through Triple Crown Records, on October 6th '14!
The band have also just been confirmed for their very first UK performance at Brighton's, The Great Escape festival, which will be a long awaited performance for themselves and their UK fans!
A little about the band – Hailing from Yosemite National Park, California, From Indian Lakes were created in 2007 under the masterful mind of singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Joey Vannucchi. He grew up on a mountain in Yosemite, CA, and a lack of electricity meant Vanucchi instead, turned his hand to learning and exploring the sounds of a multitude of instruments, creating the beautiful sound the band have crafted together today. The band has since fully expanded to include Justin Stanphill (guitar and vocals), Chris Kellogg (bass and vocals), Tohm Ifergan (drums), and Enrique Gutierrez (keys and vocals).
Their debut album, 'The Man With Wooden Legs' was released in 2009 and was quickly followed up by a fan favourite, 'Acoustic EP', which Joey recorded and mixed in a home studio. After a few years of writing, touring, and building their fan base, they released 'Able Bodies' in November 2013. The album took the music scene by storm and remains in high acclaim by countless sites, magazines, blogs, and of course, their fans.
‘Absent Sounds’ will be the band’s first album since signing to Triple Crown Records in 2013. From Indian Lakes explore what it means to be alive throughout the album; 'Sleeping Limbs,' is an echoing and ethereal song that asks, 'What’s the point to this?' Meanwhile 'Am I Alive,' uses sweet and lilting melodies to lift the mood.
On the release of ‘Absent Sounds,’ Vannucchi tells us: "To me this album feels like finally sleeping at night, or the first sigh of relief after good news. With a label behind the band, it is a record that wasn't constrained by time, or other things that usually get in the way of ones vision. I always felt like no matter what I did, being in a studio had to always be "Here's a guitar and a drum-set kid, you've got x amount of time", but this time it was about making the songs sound exactly like they did in my head, no matter how long it took. Having no regrets about an album is an incredible feeling."

Finnish Folk metal superstars KORPIKLAANI are pleased to announce that they have inked a new deal with Nuclear Blast for their forthcoming new album, entitled ‘Noita’, which is set for release in May 2015.
‘Noita’ was recorded at Petrax Studio with Aksu Hanttu handling production, recording and mixing again. It will also be the first album to feature new accordion player Sami Perttula, who has been playing a very active role in the folk arrangements along with fiddler Tuomas Rounakari.
Bassplayer Jarkko Aaltonen comments: “’Noita’ in the traditional Finnish meaning is different than what people associate it with nowadays. ‘Noita’ is a person with wider knowledge and understanding of the nature and who also was believed to possess paranormal or unnatural abilities. These people were often also referred to as ‘Tietäjä’, that exactly means someone with wider knowledge and understanding of pretty much everything. Native American medicine man is pretty much the same thing or actually all the different types of Shamans of the primitive peoples are the same thing. ‘Noita’ is someone that you turn to when you need help of some kind. Finnish ‘Noita’ had the ability to heal, just like their North American counterparts. They were very respected members of the society. Only later Christianity changed the word to mean something negative since those people were considered rivals by the church. Even in Finland this turned into a Witchhunt (=noitavaino) every now and then. Anyway, most people using Google Translate or similar will find the word ‘Witch’ and will probably get a bit wrong idea of the meaning, since most will probably connect it with the black sabbaths, devil marks and such, when a way more correct translation would probably be medicine man or Shaman.”
‘Noita’ will also be the first KORPIKLAANI album featuring new accordionist Sami Pertulla, he comments: “Previously the KORPIKLAANI albums were played with a piano-accordion and now I play with a traditional button-accordion which was more widely used in Finland anyways. In the arrangements you can hear more tonal harmonies and folky accompaniments combined to the power-chords than before. It actually boosts up the uplifting feel of our music.”
Violinist Toumas Rounakari also comments: “This album has more violin solos than ever before. Violin is more in the role of a lead-guitar now just as Jonne had originally intended it to be.”
And vocalist Jonne Järvelä concludes: “We have finally managed to create the balance between folk and metal in the way I’ve always dreamt it to be. Thanks to Sami’s arrangements and Tuomas’s crazy shredding of the violin.”
KORPIKLAANI are set to play Bloodstock Festival in Catton Park, Derbyshire this August alongside ENSLAVED, SEPULTURA, OVERKILL, SABATON and more.
KORPIKLAANI’s latest album ‘Manala’ was released August 2012 via Nuclear Blast.

New York hardcore pioneers AGNOSTIC FRONT have released a full track by track commentary for every song on the band's forthcoming album, ‘The American Dream Died’. Find the piece written by the band's iconic frontman Roger Miret below.
The band also announced the collaboration of legendary AGNOSTIC FRONT/MADBALL guitarist Matt Henderson on the song 'A Wise Man'. Miret commented: "Matt Henderson tracked all guitars for 'A Wise Man' being that song has a total ‘One Voice’ era feel! Our good friend Ricky Singh (BACKTRACK NYHC) is to credit for the songs existence! The band executed it with such a great feel and bringing in our brother and ex-AF veteran Matt Henderson to solely do the guitar tracks was just magical!"
The American Dream Died: “It’s a harsh look at what’s going on today in our society. The intro that precedes this song says it all! It’s a reaction to everything happening around us right now. The higher ups are out of control!”
Police Violence: “This is our reaction to what’s going on in our country regarding the unprovoked brutality of our citizens by those who we pay to "protect and serve" us. If they are going to act like criminals, then they should be prosecuted as one! They have some kind of elite fraternity-like understanding that they protect each other with. Don't abuse your badge!”
Only In America: “It's sad to learn that the people who serve in our military and risk their lives fighting in wars come home to the government not giving a shit about them, especially if those veterans were wounded mentally or physically. They gotta go through a lot of bullshit just to try and get a little help and support. You've gotta be blind if you don't see that, only in America. This is why I strongly believe the US Government should stop policing the world, and start caring for the issues right here in the USA!”
Test Of Time: “Learning from the past is important, to help you move forward and not make the mistakes we did in our youth. Longevity is the key to success. We won't get left behind.”
We Walk The Line: “It’s a statement of who we are and how we live in relation to the hardcore community.”
Never Walk Alone: “We always spoke about unity and how sticking together will help us grow as scene. Hardcore is worldwide now. This is our scene, our passion and it was great to present this song with honorable NYHC veteran's Freddy Cricien (MADBALL), Toby Morse (H2O) and Lou Koller (SICK OF IT ALL) joining on the anthemy chorus!!! Punk rock/Hardcore is a movement it's not an image!”
Enough Is Enough: “Protest song! I once read an inspiring quote that went like this "I hold it, that a little rebellion, now and then, is a good thing, and as necessary in the political world as storms in the physical" - Thomas Jefferson.”
I Can't Relate: “Dealing with different people you don’t like in different situations. Could be applied to a boss, ex-girlfriend, someone who lives a completely opposite lifestyle, etc.”
Old New York: “New York City has lost its edge. It's been stripped of its culture and over run by money. Making it hard for musicians and artist to live there. Now we're surrounded by transplants and rich hipsters. Let's face it, it's not the NYC I once adored. That one is so well documented in one of my favorite movies Taxi Driver! Hence the intro, I Miss The Old New York.”
Social Justice: “Nothing is more disgusting than hearing about a grown man rapping a child. This song talks about a man who got caught in the act and was served street justice stabbed with knives from his head to his toes. Justice served!”
Reasonable Doubt: “Our whole lives we’ve been criminalized for one reason or another. But it’s actually the media, the corporations and the government who are the scumbags. Power to the people standing up against them. Wake the fuck up people!”
No War Fuck You: “Self explanatory, stop creating wars so you can justify your unlimited defense budget and make all your friends rich. Innocent people are dying for your stupid games.”
Attack!: “On some occasions people tend to disrespect and take our kindness for weakness. We have always been known for never taken shit from anyone. Cross the line and we will attack!”
A Wise Man: “Growing up in NYC living in and out of Vinnie’s apartment. Our old friend John always looked out for us like a father figure. He tried to guide us in the right direction and give us good advice. He was a wise man, a friend forever.”
Just Like Yesterday: “This song takes us on the journey through our history as a band, from touring all over the world and making friends that still remain loyal today. One of my favorite lines is "From NYC to the Berlin beat." It shows our love for those two great cities and our great world accomplishments as a hardcore comunity.”
Singer Roger Miret comments further: "We chose this title cause we want to open up people's eyes to what's going on in this country. We have a lot to say. Not everyone realizes that our government and the people who run this country are so corrupt, greedy and ruthless. We need to educate the ones we reach. We're losing our values. We address real issues from full blown corruption and scandals to unjust police abuse and brutality. Everything's we stood for as a country is going down the drain. But we still somewhat have our freedom of speech. We're expressing it all through this record while we can."
‘The American Dream Died’ was produced by MADBALL singer Freddy Cricien and engineered, mixed and mastered by Paul Miner (H2O, TERROR) and will be released 6th April 2015 via Nuclear Blast Records.
The record will feature guest appearances by Cricien, Toby Morse (H2O) and Lou Koller (SICK OF IT ALL).
‘The American Dream Died’ tracklisting reads as follows:
01. Intro 02. The American Died 03. Police Violence 04. Only In America 05. Test Of Time 06. We Walk The Line 07. Never Walk Alone feat. Freddy Cricien, Toby Morse & Lou Koller 08. Dear Amphi Fans,
after all the artists confirmed so far, the time has come to vividly work on diversity again. From Synth-Pop to Goth Rock there´s something in store for every taste. As recently requested, we put a special focus on bands that either haven´t played at Amphi before or haven´t been with us for a long time. We hope you enjoy this little bag of surprises:
COMBICHRIST + THE BIRTHDAY MASSACRE THE CREEPSHOW + HENRIC DE LA COUR + FOLK NOIR EUZEN + SONJA KRAUSHOFER + ÆON SABLE + CHRISTIAN VON ASTER
It was almost 12 years ago when Andy LaPlegua, at that time already successful with Icon of Coil, returned to the path of heavy electronic music with COMBICHRIST and opened Pandora´s box, which devoured and reassembled him into iconic figure of the harsh industrial-electro scene, we came to adore so much. Hardened on the anvil of life, forged by the hammer of time, name COMBICHRIST represents its own archetype of heavy-electro, combined with an outburst of industrial-rock and hardcore elements, as recently featured on the lastest album „We love you“.
THE BIRTHDAY MASSACRE are back! And how! The Canadians not only financed their new album „Superstition“ through a crowdfunding campaign, they also created a synth-rock gem, whose irresistible „drive“ is a loveletter to the 80s. It was in 2009 when leading lady Chibi and her boys took over the Amphi Festival last time. So we´re extremely happy to see them returning to the all-new Amphi for their single European festival show this summer!
As we´re with Canadian bands, why not stay for a while? With an extra-load of Rock & Roll pumping through their veins THE CREEPSHOW charged along the fast lane at breakneck speed since 2005 and settled themselves in the front row of the most popular psychobilly bands worldwide. Headlining our second open air stage, Kenda, Sick Boy and their crew will drive you into a neat little tangle-jam on Saturday evening, as THE CREEPSHOW are a live-phenomenon that knows how to kick-ass - 110%!
With HENRIC DE LA COUR we welcome another northern light. Previously known as the voice of „Yvonne“ and „Strip Music“, the charismatic Swede started a solo carreer in 2011 and constantly expands his growing fanbase with sounds and melodies that could be described best as an abysmal profession of love to the pop- & wave-culture of the 80s. Having started his musical carreer in 1993, HENRIC DE LA COUR counts to the most fascinating personalities of the swedish music scene, who inspired director Jacob Frössén to shoot a documentary about him, which got released in October 2014.
Further new in the line-up are FOLK NOIR, a.k.a. Oliver s. Tyr and Stephan Groth of Faun. Together with the enchanting exceptional voice of Livy Pear and Alexander Schulz on drums, FOLK NOIR manage to clang their folk sounds with enthralling force and intensity. Mumford & Sons meet hurdy-gurdy and lute, carrying the shady atmosphere of a Tim Burton movie onto the stages of the 21st century while the „Man In Black“ watches from above.
And the next Amphi-Premiere follows right away. This time for EUZEN. Fronted by their charming vocalist Maria Franz, the band from Copenhagen captivates the audience with a unique mixture of progressive electro-pop and nordic-folk elements. Formed in 2008, the Danes are already about to release their third album by the title „Metamorph“ in early 2015. If you look for unconventional sounds, don´t miss this very fine scandinavian band.
Impressive stage presence and multi-faceted musical activities are the specialty of SONJA KRAUSHOFER. Whether in the electronic way as part of LAI, neo-classical with Persephone or as the rock-lady in Coma Divine, the powerful-voiced Austrian pushes the limits. When, back in 2013, we asked her to perform in a short guest appearance at the ship-event „Call The Ship To Night“ last year, she was immediately passionate about the idea. The guests aboard the ship enjoyed a marvellous but way too short concert with acoustic variations and unreleased songs from the career of one of the best voices of the dark scene. So when the opportunity arose, we did not hesitate to invite SONJA KRAUSHOFER for an exclusive „da capo“ at Amphi 2015.
With ÆON SABLE yet another band gives its Amphi debut this year. Deduced from the names of their creative minds Din-Tah Aeon and Nino Sable, formed in 2010, the band from Essen, Germany earned a veritable reputation as psychedelic postgoth-rockers. On their latest album „Visionærs“ they impressed once more with atmospheric songs as legitimate heirs of „the great old ones“!
Last but not least a good friend of our house announced to stop by again: author CHRISTIAN VON ASTER. As some of you might have heard he´s also the creator of the famous tagline „all is Amphi“ („Alles wird Amphi“), he can´t afford to miss the natal hour of the new venue, reading some of his delightful stories.

Just voted among the most interesting new generation metal bands in Finland, Helsinki's RANGERwill melt your face. Overloading all senses with a relentless onslaught of turbo-charged heavy/speed metal, RANGER'S torrid riffs, twin-guitar assault, intense rapid-fire drumming, pummelling bass attack and banshee-like vocal delivery thrashes you into oblivion.
We're talking heavy metal here, the sort that transcends generations: organic, authentic, classic and, frankly, crazy as a fucking shithouse rat. Contagious. Unstoppable.

To celebrate the album’s first release, a really special promotional video clip for the short and intense track “Smash A Single Digit” has been launched - check the clip here:
The video for 'Smash A Single Digit' was directed and produced by Michael Panduro, who has previously worked for bands like Cephalic Carnage, Saint Vitus or Job For A Cowboy. Trivia facts about this clip: The video is made up of 1093 unique drawings, each one hand-drawn in ink on paper by artist Lisbet Fredslund and actually 225 of the drawings are of the face of NAPALM DEATH vocalist “Mark “Barney” Greenway, who checked in to comment the clip as follows: “Couldn't be happier with the 'Smash A Single Digit' video clip. It shows nothing of dignity or life's fundamental pleasures - only a snapshot of those unfortunate enough to only be deemed as numbers for production quotas in this world. When a 'digit' has therefore been expended, it is rubbed out (or consumed leaving no trace, as in the case of this video). In my opinion, Michael Panduro and the team produced a real work of art and I think the general style holds some really nice future artistic possibilities for NAPALM DEATH".
The tracklisting for the standard edition of' 'Apex Predator - Easy Meat' reads as follows:
NAPALM DEATH - “Apex Predator - Easy Meat”:
1. Apex Predator - Easy Meat 2. Smash A Single Digit 3. Metaphorically Screw You 4. How The Years Condemn 5. Stubborn Stains 6. Timeless Flogging 7. Dear Slum Landlord… 8. Cesspits 9. Bloodless Coup 10. Beyond The Pale 11. Stunt Your Growth 12. Hierarchies 13. One-Eyed 14. Adversarial / Copulating Snakes

Track-listing as follows:
1. Bonafide Heroes 2. Velvet Rope 3. My Remedy 4. 6(66) Feet Under 5. Bye Bye Babylon 6. We Are The Ones To Fall 7. Wasted & Wounded 8. Let Them Burn 9. Vagabonds (Sing With Me) 10. Can You Feel The Rain
Now that’s whet your appetite, let this next video clip leave you fully stimulated; ‘Shred 'Till You Drop Vol.2: Shred Or Die!’ features the Santa Cruz frontline duo, Archie & Johnny, burning up fretboards – and potentially your loins?!
Surely enough to make guitar aficionados drown in their own saliva!
Since their much talked about headline show at The Barfly, London, last November and recent US performances including New York’s Webster Hall in December, Santa Cruz – armed with a kick-ass new album and an attitude to match – are ready to lead the way for a new legion of rock ‘n’ rollers!
And so, for those in the UK, the band will be performing across 5 dates as main support to label buddies and modern metal maestros, Amaranthe!
Says Archie, Santa Cruz front man: "We can't wait to return to the UK, the birthplace of Hard Rock & Heavy Metal, with a bang! The stages will be bigger, the show will be more hostile & the drinks will be colder! Get ready to bang your head to some new Cruz tunes! Also, Amaranthe are a bunch of really cool people –we're thrilled to be sharing UK stages with them. Get ready to Roll!"

AIRBOURNE – unswerving champions of the hard rock cause whose spectacular global success, live and on record, has consistently clenched a fist for the genre as a whole – have signed a worldwide deal with Spinefarm Records.
Driven by a formidable work-hard/play-hard ethic, and keen to entertain on the grandest of scales, this award-winning quartet (formed in regional Australia in 2003) have been proudly walking the rock ‘n’ roll path since their early teenage years, inspired by the music’s great and glorious past, yet determined to move things forward on a wave of blurred limbs & boundless energy.
Led into action by brothers Joel & Ryan O’Keeffe (vocalist / lead guitarist & drummer, respectively; the line-up is completed by David Roads on guitar and Justin Street on bass), the four have spent the past 10 years establishing themselves as a true force of nature – living on the road, selling out major venues, charting albums and appearing on bills with some of rock’s most legendary names, from Iron Maiden to the Rolling Stones.
With Airbourne, everything is to the hilt, which means that frontman Joel O’ Keeffe is as likely to be climbing the lighting rig or going ‘walkabout’ in the venue as positioned behind the mic; it also means that their three studio albums – ‘Runnin’ Wild’ (2007), ‘No Guts. No Glory’ (2009) & ‘Black Dog Barking’ (2013) – are home to some of the most rousing rock anthems of the past few years, songs like ‘Too Much, Too Young, Too Fast’, ‘No Way But The Hard Way’, ‘Live it Up’ & ‘Runnin’ Wild’ itself – a body of work that hasn’t escaped the notice of AC/DC’s Angus Young, who was recently asked in an interview what he thinks of modern rock music & he said “I see it as healthy, because there’s newer stuff coming through. I really like Airbourne”.
SINCE the release of ‘Runnin’ Wild’ (a silver record in the UK), Airbourne have notched up an impressive array of international facts ‘n’ stats: these include Top 20 chart entries, # 1 Rock Chart positions, awards for ‘Best Album’ & ‘Best Live Act’, numerous placements in video games and TV / movie outlets, plus key spots at the biggest festivals around the world, the likes of Wacken & Rock Am Ring / Rock Im Park in Germany and Sonisphere & Download in the UK, with Sweden Rock, Greenfield (Switzerland), Hellfest (France) and Graspop (Belgium) already confirmed for 2015.
Now, with sights set on absolute world domination and Album Number 4 likely to be released later this year, Airbourne have joined forces with Spinefarm Records in a new global deal that sees Spinefarm partnering with Universal Germany’s Vertigo imprint for the German speaking markets…
“We’re pumped up to have signed on the dotted line to the world's toughest and truest hard rock label, Spinefarm. We have worked with some of the guys on this team in the past, and we’re extremely confident about having each other's back in the trenches for many hard rockin' years to come. We're chompin' at the bit to get ROCKIN' and KICKIN' ARSE in 2015 & beyond” – CHEERS from Airbourne.
Says Spinefarm General Manager Worldwide, Jonas Nachsin, who previously worked with the group as Roadrunner President: “We are so proud to be the new global home for the amazing AIRBOURNE! They are a band who have thrilled audiences around the world with their insanely energetic live shows and wildly anthemic songs, and all of us at Spinefarm are thrilled to be part of their ensuing juggernaut.”
Daniel Lieberberg, Senior Vice President, Universal Music Germany, adds: “Germany, Austria and Switzerland have always been strong markets for this unique band. We’re excited to closely collaborate with Spinefarm Records on our mission to bring Airbourne to a new level in our part of the world.”
2015 finds Airbourne perfectly placed to take things to a new level everywhere, building on their passion, hard graft and heady achievements, and bringing along an ever-growing army of fans for the (white-knuckle) ride; and one thing’s for sure, there’ll be no resting on laurels…
Ask Joel O’Keeffe about his days in college, and his response neatly spotlights ‘The Airbourne Way’… “I drove by the college on the way to a gig,” he recalls, “this was in the early days, all the gear was in the back of the van. I planned to stop off and pick up the diploma certificate, but in the end I didn’t bother. I didn’t want anything to fall back on, NO Plan B… I knew what I wanted to do, I was committed to Rock’n’Roll, so as far as I was concerned, it was and still is all or nothing.” Raise The Flag for Rock’n’Roll.

Dienamic was started by Stein-Odin Johannessen (guitar) and Gustav H. Lindquist (vocals) in 2009. Ever since their first live show with their very own music at a Tromsø youth club in 2010, their plan was clear – full throttle. This was the beginning of what turned out to result in a tour in Japan with international headliners only three years later. With ingenious bassist Bjørn-Håvar Skoglund and drummer Jørgen M. Olsen they started to reach the sky with great steps in their music career. They were immensely active on Tromsø’s live scenes until 2012.
During this period, they recorded their first EP, self-titled ‘Dienamic’ in 2010. In January 2012, they finished with recording of their debut album ‘Surfing The Apocalypse’ at GR Studios and Lydproduksjon, Tromsø. Things really started happening when the album was released in September 2012; Reviews with dice throws 5 and 6, nomination for ‘Best Album 2012’ at www.musikktrend.no, recognition from established bands from home and abroad.
One of the first highlights is publishing one of Dienamic songs on Terrorizer Magazine’s FearCandy CD forFebruary issue in 2013. During the summer of 2013, the band started to work on pre-production for the second album. Great reactions on Dienamic first album and an exclusive deal with Full Metal Service agency resulted with first ever tour outside Norway. Not more, not less than Japan together with Nightrage (SE), Psycroptic (AU) The Faceless (US) and Inarkadia (FR) on the beginning of November 2013! Few months later Dienamic confirmed main stage slot on Underwall Festival in Croatia and Sepultura support show in Belgrade.
Second album ‘Afterlife’ was recorded in April 2014, mixed and mastered during summer 2014 and will be out early 2015. Preparing for the upcoming extensive touring, some lineup changes had to be made. Early October 2014 Sebastian Jacobsson and Kenneth Iversen Muotkajærvi took up the duties on drums and bass. At the same time the band secured a very good record deal with Worm Hole Death (IT).
BRAWLERS have revealed plans to release their debut album titled ‘The Romantic Errors of Our Youth’ on April 6th via Alcopop! Records. This much anticipated full-length follows their 2014 EP ‘I Am A Worthless Piece Of Shit’ which, teamed with a heavy touring schedule, infectious disposition for good times and intent to spread the good word of rock ‘n’ roll, earned the band loyal fans all over the UK and saw them cited in Kerrang!’s ‘20 Hottest Bands In The World Right Now’, among other glowing accolades.
The track-listing for ‘Romantic Errors of Our Youth’ is as follows :
1. Annabel 2. Drink & Dial 3. Holding Back 4. High Again 5. N.O.R.E.S.T. 6. Two Minutes 7. (I’m Having A) Nervous Breakdown 8. Windowmisser 9. Medicine 10. Romantic Errors of our Youth
Already having garnered plays on Radio 1 and XFM, lead track ‘Drink & Dial’ is currently available to stream via Soundcloud:
Comments frontman Harry George Johns, “This song is about trying to not make those calls, those mistakes we all make, often after alcohol, mostly after heartache - but I’ve made these mistakes and I’m telling you now, don’t not drink and dial, just don’t drink!”.
Brawlers will also be main support to Real Friends on their upcoming UK tour :
March 19 @ Sound Control, Manchester
March 21 @ Asylum, Birmingham
March 22 @ Underworld, London
Further touring plans, including various festival appearances will be revealed in due course.
BLACK STAR RIDERS | DAMON JOHNSON AND SCOTT GORHAM DISCUSS DEVELOPING THEIR SONGWRITING SKILLS ON THE NEW ALBUM 'THE KILLER INSTINCT' BLACK STAR RIDERS guitarists Damon Johnson (THIN LIZZY, ex-ALICE COOPER/BROTHER CANE) and Scott Gorham (THIN LIZZY, ex-21 GUNS) check-in again to discuss how they have developed their songwriting skills over the years, and even still during the recording of the band's new album, The Killer Instinct.
The second studio album by BLACK STAR RIDERS is a rich collection of story-based tracks ('Soldierstown', 'Finest Hour', 'Blindsided', 'Sex, Guns & Gasoline') rooted in master craftsman performances by vocalist Ricky Warwick, guitarist Damon Johnson, guitarist Scott Gorham, drummer Jimmy DeGrasso and bassist Robbie Crane.
The Killer Instinct will be released on the 23rd of February.
After taking a trip back in time with the 'Tragic Illusion 25 (The Rarities)' album and the last studio album 'Tragic Idol' (2012) which entered the charts in over 10 European countries - most notably #2 in UK Rock Charts, #6 in Germany, #15 in Austria, #30 in France and #32 in North America Top New Artists/Heatseeker Charts, it's now time for PARADISE LOST's 14th studio album! The album will be entitled 'The Plague Within' and will be released via Century Media Records on June 1st, 2015 in Europe and June 2nd, 2015 in North America.
Nick Holmes comments: "We wanted to approach the new album differently this time by embracing the band’s VERY early days. We have written a very dark, yet melodic album, but this time many songs definitely have a death metal edge, which is something we haven’t done for a long long time in Paradise Lost.”
Their much anticipated 14th studio album is produced and mixed by with Jaimie Gomez Arellano from Orgone Studios in London (Ghost BC, Ulver, Cathedral, Angel Witch).
More details about the upcoming PARADISE LOST album “The Plague Within” will be revealed soon…

Multinational blues rock stars BLUES PILLS have announced to release a special and very limited live album, entitled Blues Pills Live.
The album was recorded during the band's headlining show at last year's Freak Valley Festival which marked a special event for the group. With releasing 'Blues Pills Live', they say thank you to the person and festival that paved the way for what is today known as the hottest new band in classic/blues rock - BLUES PILLS.
"To the lovely freaks, Freak Valley creators, our dear friend Jens Heide. For us this moment and this day was really special. It felt like all the puzzle pieces came together up until one moment, this experience at Freak Valley festival. This was our first ever apperience at Freak Valley and our first ever headline show on an outdoor festival. We've known about Jens and his freaks for a long time. He gave the name to our band and been supporting us since day one, before our demos were public or even recorded, before when there was only a young and naive dream of playing for any crowds or getting record deals, before we even played a single show - before devil man even was written and before the band was fully formed, before when it was just the beginning of an idea. This show is a magical moment for us - this is where the circle connects with its other half. This record will only be released on vinyl and cd - the cover is made by our favorite artist Marijke Koger-Dunhamn. Recorded LIVE at one of Europes coolest and loveable festivals of our time - FREAK VALLEY FESTIVAL . Thank you freaks, Freak Valley pioneers and Jens for this experience and for your support. We won't forget, ever. Love - BLUES PILLS"
BLUES PILLS Live will be released March 23rd, 2015 via Nuclear Blast. The album will be out on vinyl in various colours and available from the Nuclear Blast store: www.nuclearblaststore.co.uk and also sold as a lavish digibook CD. No digital version will be made available. The release will be strictly limited and won't be reprinted once it is sold out.
The stunning artwork by Marjke Koger-Dunham (THE BEATLES, CREAM) who also created the cover for the incredibly successful self-titled debut album can be found below.

Joey Sturgis, world-renowned metal producer who has worked closely with Asking Alexandria through the band's rise to metal supremacy, opened up about the recent news regarding former frontman Danny Worsnop's departure from the band. Sturgis has produced every Asking Alexandria LP released thus far as well as upcoming unreleased material. He received the honor of RIAA Gold certification for the song "The Final Episode" off of "Stand Up and Scream."
"Working with Asking Alexandria has always been a magical thing, we have always seemed to connect on a very deep level musically. I've been producing the band since the moment they stepped foot on american soil, and I am proud of it. When we first began to bring their songs to life, none of us knew what to expect and what would become of it; but the band had an amazing passion and fire that drove them straight to the top. Asking Alexandria has always had that fire, and will continue to have that fire! This is only the end of an early chapter, and the start to a new one. AA Family will be strong, and AA will live on." — Joey Sturgis, on the departure of Worsnop.
Guitar legend ULI JON ROTH will release Scorpions Revisited, a highly-anticipated brand new double album of 19 re-invented Scorpions tracks, on January 26 (digital) / March 10 (physical) via UDR Music.
Today, LA Weekly is hosting the exclusive premiere of ULI JON ROTH’s re-working of the classic Scorpions track “Catch Your Train”, which is featured on Scorpions Revisited. The track stream is paired with an in-depth interview previewing Roth’s performance tonight (Jan. 23) in Hollywood, CA at the House of Blues – part of the Extreme Guitar Tour (see below for all dates).
Listen Here via LA Weekly
For over four decades, ULI JON ROTH has forged new frontiers in the world of guitar, both in terms of approach and style. He even managed to invent the sky-guitar, a six octave lead instrument that remains unparalleled. But before he started to explore the creative worlds of music, philosophy and art, ULI JON ROTH was a member of European rock giants, the Scorpions, a band with which he helped create a new path in hard rock music. In 2013, venerated for his originality and dynamism at the time, Roth found himself intrigued by the memory of those early days which began 40 years ago, and specifically by the music he helped write, perform and occasionally sing on the albums Fly To The Rainbow, In Trance, Virgin Killer and Taken By Force. It lead to Roth deciding to spend a year re-visiting, exploring, performing and re-recording his favorite Scorpions songs.
The first results of this magical, mystical journey into his own past can be heard on ULI JON ROTH’s Scorpions Revisited, a double-disc CD recorded in Hanover, Germany which sees the maestro re-harness all the collective power and poise of those original Scorpions classics, and re-imagine them as he feels today. No one in their right mind would dare call these mere re-recordings, as it’s clear that ULI JON ROTH reinvents these songs from the soul up. Feast your ears, heart and emotions on ULI JON ROTH’s unique return to his most famous musical legacy.
Track listing - CD1:
1. The Sails Of Charon 2. Longing For Fire 3. Crying Days 4. Virgin Killer 5. In Trance 6. Sun In My Hand 7. Yellow Raven 8. Polar Nights 9. Dark Lady
Track listing - CD2:
1. Catch Your Train 2. Evening Wind 3. All Night Long 4. We’ll Burn In The Sky 5. Pictured Life 6. Hell Cat 7. Life’s Like A River 8. Drifting Sun 9. Rainbow Dream Prelude 10. Fly To The Rainbow
“The material for this double CD was recorded last year in the same hall in Hanover that we used for the Scorpions rehearsals 1973-1978,” explains Roth. “Together with an amazing bunch of very talented young musicians, I revisited my personal favourites from the early Scorpions period, some of which were written in that same hall. It was an emotional few days and I am very pleased with the results in more ways than one. The idea was to stay truthful to the original spirit of the music, while also putting a new slant on it whenever it felt like the right thing to do. I feel we really succeeded in this and I’m very excited about this project. It was a intense journey into the past and I think we really managed to bring the songs back to life with a vengeance.”
The band which performed with Roth for these historic shows was Nathan James (vocals), Jamie Little (drums), Ule W. Ritgen (bass), Niklas Turmann (guitar, vocals), Corvin Bahn (keyboards, vocals) and David Klosinski (guitar).

VENOM REVEAL NEW TRACK "GRINDING TEETH" FROM FORTHCOMING ALBUM, RELEASED VIA SPINEFARM RECORDS ON JANUARY 26th
VENOM are metal royalty and they remain as relevant as ever as they gear up to release their new album From The Very Depths on January 26th, which sounds as though Cronos and co. have crawled from the very depths of hell itself to bring you this maximum metal opus.
It's so metal that iron ore runs through every vein and ventricle. Go ahead and grind!
The album is available for pre-order available via iTunes here and Amazon here.
Pioneers of Sumerian thrashing black metal, MELECHESH, are set to release their new album Enki on March the 2nd but who is Enki and why did the band decide to name their album after him? Well, wonder no further! The band has just posted the first trailer documenting the new release and today's clip sees frontman Ashmedi explaining the origin of the album title.
The follow-up to 2010's masterpiece ‘The Epigenesis’ marks the band's sixth full-length album and will feature iconic guests Max Cavalera (SOULFLY, CAVALERA CONSPIRACY, KILLER BE KILLED), Sakis Tolis (ROTTING CHRIST) and Rob Caggiano (VOLBEAT, ex-ANTHRAX).
Ashmedi commented: "I am flattered and honoured to have esteemed guests appear on this multifaceted album. ‘Enki’ solicited different approaches and new experiences. Max is a lion - I love his voice and the tribal and historic parallels of our lives are uncanny, he did an amazing job on 'Lost Tribes'. Sakis is an old friend and we toured together in the past. His voice added another dimension of mysticism on our 'Enki - Divine Nature Awoken'. Rob and I always wanted to collaborate and he is an agile and excellent guitar player so the lead he did on 'The Palm, the Eye and Lapis Lazuli' was perfect , it rocks and serves the track well. They all did an outstanding job and went above and beyond to make it happen despite their busy schedules. MELECHESH is more than a band - it is a society!"
And it seems Caggiano and Cavalera are just as honoured to be involved in the project, with both musicians commenting:
"I've been a fan of MELECHESH for a while now and it was an honour for me to play a solo on their new album!! These guys sound like nothing else out there!" - Caggiano
"I was very honoured that MELECHESH asked me to sing on their new album! I'm a big fan and I think ‘The Epigenesis’ is one of the greatest extreme metal records ever done! I love the fact that they come from a different part of the world like me. So our worlds finally collide! Long live MELECHESH!" - Cavalera
ROTTING CHRIST's Sakis Tolis gushed further: "When I was told that our brother band MELECHESH would record their upcoming album in my hometown, I immediately picked up the phone and called Ashmedi to participate somehow. Ashmedi responded positively so I was ready to raise some serious hell... It is very interesting since we are sharing the same Mediterranean mentality as individuals. I believe this new album is one of the most unique and atmospheric metal albums I have heard the last years. Ashmedi took me to their majestic oriental path and showed me the way to the new Babylon. I am definitely proud working with the Kings of Fire and I really recommend to check the new MELECHESH album - it is really good!"
Enki features 12 string electric guitars aside from the 6 string played on the entire album, for a heavier and subtly richer harmonic sound. The band also tuned their instruments to the pitch perfect 432 Hz frequency, rather than the standardized 440 Hz one, for a deeper sonic experience within the human psyche and in accordance to the vibrations of the universe. The majority of the album was recorded in Greece and was mixed & mastered at Black Lounge Studio in Sweden by Jonas Kjellgren.
The tracklist reads as follows:
01. Tempest Temper Enlil Enraged 02. The Pendulum Speaks 03. Lost Tribes (featuring Max Cavalera) 04. Multiple Truths 05. Enki - Divine Nature Awoken (featuring Sakis Tolis) 06. Metatron And Man 07. The Palm The Eye And Lapis Lazuli (featuring Rob Caggiano) 08. Doorways To Irkala 09. The Outsiders

Hellions have today released new track 'Nottingham', another dynamic blast of punk intricacy from their phenomenal debut album 'Indian Summer', on sale February 02 via UNFD.
Complementing the pure fury of previous single 'Creasy', 'Nottingham' displays the Sydney trio's depth and thoughtfulness while retaining the chaotic edge that makes 'Indian Summer' such a monster. Says guitarist Matt Gravolin, "Nottingham is about comparative thinking and jealousy within a relationship; The unearthing of the erstwhile in cardiac landfill after incessant inquiry, begetting a mutual resentment."
Forming in early 2013, Sydney’s Hellions wasted little time in establishing themselves as a national presence. Releasing their first single ‘Infamita’ in June of that year, the group quickly racked up supports and tours with Deez Nuts, Attila and Every Time I Die before releasing their UNFD debut 'Die Young' in September. The trio’s blend of aggressive, hardcore-influenced guitar work, punk rock melodicism, frenzied percussion and the unique delivery of front man Dre Faivre all combining to form a sound and style that Hellions can proudly call their own.

SÓLSTAFIR have just announced that their regular drummer, Guðmundur "Gummi" Óli Pálmason, will not be performing during their upcoming shows. He will be replaced by Karl Petur Smith during this period.
The Icelanders comment: "Today we're in Milton Keynes ready to kick off the second leg of our European tour. It is with great sadness that we need to report to you that Gummi will not be joining us on this tour due to personal reasons. We'd prefer to leave it at that and ask that you please respect our privacy in this matter and refrain from all questions, speculations and internet rumors. We will follow up when the time is right, but for now, we're very excited to have a brilliant drummer by the name of Karl Petur Smith joining us for these shows. His extensive musical background includes playing with such acts as Rusty Anderson, Jason Falkner and Bubbi Morthens. Can't wait to see all of your faces out there!"
Please note that SÓLSTAFIR will not answer any questions regarding this topic at all!
On further news, SÓLSTAFIR have already reported sold out shows at Paris' Nouveau Casino in France on the 27th of January and in Nantes a day later as well as in Weinheim, Germany. Tickets are running low in other places as well. We strongly recommend an early ticket purchase.

Italy's notorious black/doom metallers FORGOTTEN TOMB are on the final lap of the recording process of their next installment, having recently completed mixing duties in Sound Suite Studios (Marseille, France) with producer Terje Refsnes (Carpathian Forest, Novembre, Gehenna, Destroyer 666).
FORGOTTEN TOMB's leader Ferdinando "Herr Morbid" Marchisio commented: "We are extremely proud of how this new album came out. We worked really hard, like never before. Terje Refsnes is a really experienced producer and he managed to get the best out of us. We kept the sound very organic and natural, kinda old-fashioned but still very fresh. The new songs are heavy as fuck and they feature our classic trademark plus some new elements. It's a good mix of melancholy, groove and pure malignancy. I can't wait for people to listen to it, 'cause it's a really special album for us and probably the most extreme we did in quite a while, both musically and conceptually".
The band's eight studio album will be mastered by Brad Boatright at Audiosiege Studio (Corrosion Of Conformity, Nails, Vallenfyre, Beastmilk, High On Fire) in Portland (Oregon, USA). A spring release date via Agonia Records is expected. Further details will be announced shortly.

In Times is the title of the thirteenth studio album by Norwegian extreme metallers, ENSLAVED. The hand-painted artwork for the new album was created by long time collaborator and the ‘sixth member of ENSLAVED’, Truls Espedal. The band has just released the first album trailer detailing the development of the artwork - watch as Truls walks you through the painting process, here:
Truls Espedal states: “Working with oil paint and a deadline can be somewhat aggravating and I learned that red paint takes really really long to dry! But I almost made the deadline finishing three paintings and layout, all the time with IN TIMES on the stereo. I've played the album closer to two hundred times by now, and I find it to be more in every way. It sounds potent and fresh, and the tracks are just fucking inspirational. So, I went for more as well. I wanted the cover to have more atmosphere, starker contrasts and be more subtle yet dramatic. Ivar and Grutle's concept allowed me to add new elements and be more experimental, without wanting to leave the familiar. It also allowed for more diversity through the cover, especially the vinyl.
The three paintings for this release range from figurative work to very stylised, almost abstract, expanding upon the front cover. The process was also a bit different; more dynamic. A lot of the artwork was improvised, which is not typical me. I enjoyed it. And I feel I'm getting the hang of the oil paint now, so I'm really excited for next time.”
Frontman Grutle Kjellson adds: "I just love the album cover. I honestly think this is the best artwork I have ever seen. That is of course because Truls has developed the ability to transform me and Ivar’s often surreal concepts and ideas into an actual painting. This painting is the perfect projection of our lyrics, it even extends the written words. This is a picture of mythology, life, death and time. Truls has made a masterpiece, we have made the soundtrack." The main recording session for In Times took place at Duper Studios and Solslottet Studio in Bergen, Norway with additional recording sessions taking place at Conclave & Earshot Studios (run by band members Larsen and Ice Dale), as well as Ivar Bjørnson’s Peersonal Sound Studios. Additional experimentation and sonic exploration was conducted deep in the woods of Valevåg (south of Bergen), where a mobile studio recorded additional sounds.
In Times was produced by band members Ivar Bjørnson, Grutle Kjellson & Herbrand Larsen together with Iver Sandøy. Mixing was completed by Jens Bogren at Fascination Street Studios in Örebro, Sweden.
In Times will be released on March 9th via Nuclear Blast.

California-based post hardcore quartet Broken Lips have debuted their vibrant new single and music video, "Chains of Grudge," via BryanStars. The dark landscape set by the video mirrors the haunting melodies driven into the viewer by the female-fronted act. The song is the first released by the band in 2015, delivering a pop rock gleam with a post hardcore edge — making it a must-listen for all fans of the alternative scene.
Originally from Puerto Rico, the band re-located to America where they continue to grow musically — as shown in the "Chains of Grudge" video.
"Chains of Grudge" is about moving forward in spite of everything that tries to hold you back — like mistakes, doubt and criticism. We all have elements in our life which we can't physically see, but we feel we can never overcome. This is represented by the ghost in our video. 'These chains of grudge will end when I return to dust.'" — Rubina Altreche, Broken Lips frontwoman

A lover of classical music, Rhoads had taken initial steps into rock’n’roll as a 16 year old when he formed a band, that soon became Quiet Riot. Rhoads was vaulted to the limelight in 1979 when Ozzy Osbourne chose the relatively unknown guitarist to help shape a new future for him via his band, Blizzard of Oz. The result saw Rhoads co-script two of the most famous albums in hard rock history, Blizzard Of Oz and Diary of A Madman, and rapidly ascended the stairway of fame and recognition for his virtuoso playing and writing. Famed for the way he fused classical flavors with technically-excellent hard rock, Rhoads became one of the most influential lead guitarists in rock.
When he tragically passed away on March 19, 1982 in a plane accident, Rhoads was only 25 years old, but thankfully, the legend of his work, ethos and their continuing influence on a whole new generation of guitarists, has never dimmed.
Celebrate the life and legend of Randy Rhoads with Immortal Randy Rhoads – The Ultimate Tribute.

New York-based metalcore band MASSiVE have released their new controversially-charged music video on police brutality, "Lead Hands," featuring Landon Tewers of The Plot In You. The hardcore-influenced track was produced by Joey Sturgis (The Devil Wears Prada, Asking Alexandria) and the video was directed by Sam Link (Sleeping With Sirens, Bruised But Not Broken, and Crown The Empire).
I think police brutality is a small part of a much larger issue. The issue being that we as a whole continue to put people in positions of power who don't have our best interests at hand. Our world is growing increasingly unstable, and it's more apparent now then it has ever been, so the idea behind the song is to incite change, only by opening minds so we can come to understand that things are not as they seem to be. We've all grown tired of the ignorance and the lies but it's only by our own hands will they ever change for the better. -Rob Ulshafer, MASSiVE frontman
About MASSiVE: 5-piece metalcore band MASSiVE was founded in late 2012 by Craig and Anthony, who were initially starting a pop-rock group until they made the decision to go back to their roots in hardcore. Joey was then invited to audition for the band, as they were familiar with him and his vocals from the local music scene. The trio wrote several songs together, which eventually got the attention of several producers and management companies. Not more than a year later, Rob and Emmett joined MASSiVE as the last and final additions to the group. By blending elements of thrashy metalcore with the high-energy of nu-metal and progressive rock, the band set out to create their own sound, unique among the rest. MASSiVE grabbed the attention of producer Joey Sturgis in the Fall of 2013, who then worked with them on several songs at 37 Studios in Detroit, MI. The band is currently working with director Sam Link on a series of music videos to be released Fall/Winter 2014.
