GREGORY PORTER AND LAURA MVULA UNITE ON NEW SINGLE ‘WATER UNDER BRIDGES’

“Man of the Moment” Gregory Porter, whose recent meteoric ascent has taken him from Jazz clubs to prime time TV and a Grammy award, today announced a partnership with British Jazz superstar Laura Mvula on a new version of ‘Water Under Bridges’ which features on the release of an expanded deluxe edition of his classic album, ‘Liquid Spirit’ released 12 January 2015.

The track, which is a lament written by Gregory dealing with challenges of shifting past broken relationships, was exclusively premiered on BBC Radio 2 and showcases their incredible individual vocal talents as well as their impressive harmonic abilities. The superstar Singer-songwriter vocal partnership was inspired by Laura’s surprise appearance during Gregory’s exclusive 2014 iTunes Festival show, where they performed an early version of the track to a capacity crowd at the London Round House last summer.

Although it is no great surprise Laura and Gregory have collaborated, as Laura is a great fan of Gregory and his music: “It’s like the stars align when he does his thing”.*

The ‘Water Under Bridges’ single will feature alongside a plethora of additional content on Gregory Porter’s ‘Liquid Spirit’ Expanded Deluxe Edition which is released on 12 January 2015 and available to preorder now on iTunes. The single will also be available on ‘Liquid Spirit’ Deluxe Edition CD/DVD (available digitally), also released 12 January 2015 and available to pre-order now on Amazon.

The Deluxe Edition includes an additional 4 tracks of collaborations, covers and a brand new remix. Jamie Cullum joins Gregory for their own take on Don’t Let Me Be Misunderstood, which they performed on Strictly Come Dancing in November 2014. There is also a brand new version of Porter singing Grandma’s Hands (originally made famous by Bill Withers) featuring Ben L’Oncle Soul and the 20Syl remix of Liquid Spirit takes Gregory to the clubs.

The Bonus DVD features extracts from Gregory’s performance with the Metropole Orchestra, conducted by Jules Buckley, from 2013. As well as orchestral versions of his own tracks we see Gregory covering Muddy Water’s ‘Hootchie Coochie Man’.

Named ‘Best Jazz Vocal Album’ at the Grammys, classic album, ‘Liquid Spirit’, has now reached Gold sales in the UK. Gregory’s breath-taking performances have taken the singer from numerous UK summer festivals, Hyde Park, headlining BluesFest at the Royal Albert Hall as well as the iTunes Festival at the Roundhouse, to popular television programmes such as The One Show, BBC1’s Strictly Come Dancing, and most recently the first BBC Music Awards, at which he was nominated for ‘International Artist of the Year’ alongside Taylor Swift, Dolly Parton, Prince, Lorde and Pharrell Williams. In December, Porter was chosen to sing on the Marks & Spencer Christmas TV ad, as he continued to tour the country, impressing the crowds and critics alike.

With Gregory’s 2015 already commencing with a star studded collaboration with Laura Mvula, who knows what the rest of the year will bestow for “Man of the Moment”, Gregory Porter.
